As a newly qualified or early-career Speech and Language Therapist, you'll play a vital role in helping people communicate, eat, drink and swallow safely, improving independence, wellbeing and quality of life. Key Responsibilities
- Support adults with acquired communication and/or swallowing disorders to maximise their independence, wellbeing and quality of life.
- Assess, prioritise and manage a diverse caseload, responding appropriately to complex, sensitive and unpredictable clinical and non-clinical situations.
- Deliver person-centred interventions for individuals with communication impairments, mental health needs, degenerative conditions, terminal illnesses and other complex presentations.
- Provide clear advice, guidance and practical communication strategies to patients, carers and other professionals to help individuals achieve their communication potential.
- Communicate complex, sensitive or challenging information with professionalism, empathy and compassion.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies, contributing specialist advice and recommendations to support effective patient care.
- Build positive working relationships with healthcare professionals, carers and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated and seamless service delivery.
- Contribute to safe, high-quality clinical practice by maintaining accurate records and supporting evidence-based decision-making.

Essential Criteria
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent qualification).
- HCPC registration and eligibility to practise as a Speech and Language Therapist.
- Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) with a commitment to continuing professional development.
- Knowledge of relevant national and local clinical guidelines.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, support and reassurance when working with individuals with communication and/or swallowing difficulties, their families and carers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, openly and effectively with a range of audiences.
- High level of clinical assessment and diagnostic skills relevant to speech, language and swallowing disorders.
- Self-aware, professional and able to build positive working relationships.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
