Speech and Language Therapist
Highbury, Islington, Greater London
£38,000 - £40,000 per year
Full-time | Permanent
At Liaise, we support adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs to live as independently as possible. We're looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our Specialist Support Team and help us provide the best possible support to the people we work with.
This role offers a good balance of clinical practice and hands-on support. You'll have your own caseload and work closely with support teams, families, and other professionals to help people communicate more effectively and safely.
What you'll be doing
- Managing a caseload of adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs
- Assessing and supporting communication needs and dysphagia
- Creating communication profiles, therapy plans, and swallowing guidelines
- Delivering tailored interventions based on individual needs
- Supporting colleagues to use communication strategies confidently in day-to-day practice
- Promoting the use of AAC, Makaton, and other communication methods where appropriate
- Working alongside families, social workers, GPs, and other professionals
- Keeping accurate clinical records and contributing to service improvement work

What you'll need
Essential
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- HCPC registration
- RCSLT membership
- Experience working with adults with learning disabilities and/or autism
- Experience assessing communication needs and dysphagia
- Strong communication and clinical reasoning skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable
- Experience using AAC
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- Experience delivering training
- Involvement in service development or audits
- Full UK driving licence
