About The Role
Specialist Speech & Language Therapist (Term Time Only)
Location: Powys
Salary: £35,481 - £39,423 pro rata (equivalent to £45,000 - £50,000 FTE)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Term Time Only (41 weeks per year)

Orbis Education and Care is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to become part of our expanding therapy team, providing support across our specialist education settings in Powys.
This rewarding position offers the opportunity to work with children and young people with a range of additional learning and communication needs, including autism spectrum conditions, learning disabilities, sensory differences, and social, emotional and attachment-related challenges. As part of our collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in helping pupils develop the communication skills needed to thrive both in education and everyday life.
About The Role
As a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist, you will:
- Conduct comprehensive speech, language and communication assessments for children and young people with complex needs.
- Design and deliver tailored intervention programmes for individual pupils and groups.
- Support learners with communication and interaction difficulties, AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), and eating and drinking challenges where appropriate.
- Work closely with education, care and therapeutic professionals to ensure communication strategies are embedded throughout the school environment.
- Provide expert advice, guidance and coaching to colleagues to enhance communication outcomes across the setting.
- Deliver training sessions for staff, families and carers, promoting consistency in communication approaches.
- Help create and maintain communication-friendly learning environments.
- Contribute to EHCP/IDP reviews, multidisciplinary planning meetings and wider therapy service developments.
- Champion best practice and evidence-based approaches to communication support.

About You
We're looking for a dedicated Speech & Language Therapist who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with additional needs.
Essential Criteria
- Degree or Diploma in Speech & Language Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Relevant post-qualification experience supporting autistic children and young people with complex needs.
- Strong knowledge of SEND frameworks and person-centred practice.
- Experience delivering training, mentoring, coaching or workforce development initiatives.
- Understanding of AAC, PECS, Makaton and Dysphagia, or a willingness to undertake further specialist training.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and case management abilities.
- Full UK driving licence.
