The Role
We are looking for an experienced, ADOS-trained Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team on a flexible contractor basis.
The role will primarily involve:
- Delivering ADOS assessments with children and young people
- Producing clear, thoughtful clinical notes and assessment contributions
- Participating in multidisciplinary diagnostic conversations
- Contributing to recommendations that are practical, individualized, and useful to families
- Working collaboratively with psychologists and other clinicians involved in the assessment process
The role is flexible, and within a new service, but we expect it to average approximately one day per week. Assessment sessions will take place in South Manchester, with some associated administration and MDT work completed remotely where appropriate.

About you
You will be a qualified Speech and Language Therapist who:
- Is registered with the HCPC
- Has completed ADOS-2 training
- Has at least two years’ experience working with autistic children or young people
- Has experience contributing to autism assessments or multidisciplinary diagnostic work
- Communicates clearly and sensitively with children, families, and professional colleagues
- Is confident working independently while contributing constructively to a multidisciplinary team
- Produces high-quality, timely clinical documentation
We are particularly interested in clinicians who see autism assessment as more than arriving at a 'yes' or 'no'. You will be passionate about helping families understand the young person in front of them and providing recommendations that translate into meaningful support at home, in education, and in everyday life.
Contract details
- Contract type: Self-employed contractor
- Rate: £80 per hour
- Commitment: Ideally around one day per week, with flexibility by agreement
- Location: Chorlton, Manchester
- Start date: November, 2026
Contractors will be responsible for maintaining their own professional registration, indemnity insurance, DBS status, and relevant training.
