Imagine starting your day at Oakwood College, a welcoming and nurturing environment where every interaction has the potential to make a meaningful difference. This 4-day-per-week, term-time only role offers a fantastic opportunity to build a rewarding career while maintaining a healthy work-life balance, giving you more time to focus on family, personal interests, wellbeing, and the things that matter most to you.
Whether you're looking for greater flexibility, school-friendly working patterns, or the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of school holidays, this role offers the rare chance to combine purposeful work with valuable time away from the workplace to rest, recharge, and thrive.
As part of our dedicated Integrated Therapy Team, you'll join a community of passionate and supportive Team Members who are committed to helping learners feel safe, understood, and empowered to achieve their potential. Working with learners with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, you'll play an important role in providing therapeutic support that helps them build confidence, develop emotional resilience, and experience success both within the college environment and beyond.
A day in the life of a Speech and Language Therapist will involve:
- Taking a trauma-informed approach to clinical work. You’ll work with a small caseload of learners who will have varying Learning, Communication, sensory processing, and social interaction needs. You’ll be able to do this through 1:1 support, classroom work, and group sessions.
- Working with the wider team to offer the best support to our learners, including our onsite creative art therapists, teachers, and teaching assistants, and taking part in Multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Administration. Whilst doing all your great work with the learners, we’ll need you to keep their records up to date and carry out all the administrative tasks you’d expect to come with this role. Don’t worry though, during the school holidays you can work from home so that you have the space to do this without it impacting the time you spend with the learners.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
