Speech and Language Therapist Opportunity

Are you an enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist passionate about developing your knowledge and skills in providing Community Speech and Language Therapy for Adults with acquired swallowing and communication difficulties?

We have an exciting opportunity for a fixed term Band 5 post beginning in the Community Integrated Neuro and Stroke Service (CINSS) with potential to rotate into the Adult Community SLT Team in the future.

About the Role

The CINSS Team is a community-based interdisciplinary therapy team, supporting the timely discharge of patients from hospital with ongoing needs following a new or worsening neurological condition; stroke, and non-stroke. The team works collaboratively with acute services, rehab, and third-sector services to deliver a patient-centered; goal-focused approach to rehabilitation. Our team is an integral part of the stroke pathway.

The Adult Community SLT Team is a small, dedicated team providing assessment, advice, and treatment to adults with acquired swallowing and communication difficulties. You will have the opportunity to work with SLTs specialising in progressive neurology, voice, and dysfluency. Offering home visits, clinic-based appointments, and attendance at clinics at UHCW.

Responsibilities

  • To provide speech and language therapy assessment, treatments, and review for patients referred into the services with acquired communication, voice, and swallowing needs. This will be for patients predominantly in their place of residence but will include clinic and other settings.
  • To provide expert advice and guidance to patients, carers, health, and social care professionals from across multiple providers internal and external to the organisation.
  • To be involved in service developments in order to provide the best service to our patients.

Development

We will support your development through Band 5 NQP and dysphagia competencies. You will have access to Value Based Appraisal, one-to-one, and group clinical supervision.
