Speech & Language Therapist

Location: Empingham
Salary: £18,880 actual salary (£37,760 FTE)
Hours: 20 hours per week
Contract: Permanent, part-time, term-time only
Start: ASAP

About the School

A specialist therapeutic weekly boarding and day school is looking for an experienced Speech & Language Therapist to join its multidisciplinary therapy team.

The school supports children and young people aged 5–19, primarily with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and complex learning profiles. Based in the Rutland countryside just outside Stamford, the school provides a supportive and individualised environment focused on helping learners develop confidence, independence and their strengths.

The Role

You will manage your own paediatric caseload, providing assessment and intervention for learners with speech, language and communication needs, while supporting staff to embed effective communication strategies across the school.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assess and manage a varied paediatric caseload
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate individual and group interventions
  • Set targets and monitor learner progress
  • Complete EHCP, Annual Review and clinical reports
  • Provide advice, training and strategies to school staff
  • Work closely with education, care and therapy colleagues
  • Make external referrals where appropriate
  • Maintain accurate clinical records
  • Contribute to the development of the therapy service
  • Work in line with HCPC and RCSLT standards

About You

  • Degree in Speech & Language Therapy
  • HCPC registered and RCSLT member
  • 2+ years' post-qualification experience
  • At least 1 year in paediatrics or specialist education
  • Experience supporting children with complex needs
  • Understanding of SEMH and/or SLCN
  • Strong clinical, communication and organisational skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of an MDT
  • Patient, empathetic and resilient approach
