Speech and Language Therapist

Location: Shropshire
Salary: Up to £44,000 FTE, dependent on experience and hours
Hours: Flexible – 2–5 days per week
Job Type: Permanent

We are currently recruiting for a Speech and Language Therapist to join a specialist education setting supporting children and young people with complex communication needs, autism and additional disabilities.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced clinician to take a key role in developing the communication provision across the setting, working closely with education, care and wider clinical teams.

The Role

  • Develop and maintain communication profiles for students across the school
  • Assess and support children with complex communication needs
  • Provide input around AAC, assistive communication and total communication approaches
  • Deliver staff training and support education and care teams to embed strategies
  • Contribute to behaviour support plans and wider education and care documentation
  • Complete formal assessments and reports where required
  • Work collaboratively with psychology, therapy and wider multidisciplinary colleagues
  • Help develop a consistent, site-wide approach to communication

About You

We are looking for a qualified Speech and Language Therapist with experience working with:

  • Children and young people with complex disabilities
  • Autism and communication difficulties
  • Pre-verbal or minimally verbal children
  • AAC and total communication approaches
  • Education, residential or specialist care environments

You will be a confident communicator who enjoys working collaboratively and is keen to make a genuine, long-term impact on the communication outcomes of children and young people. Newly qualified therapists may be considered where they have strong relevant pre-qualification experience, such as working in education, residential care or as an HCLA.
