We specialise in supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs to live fulfilling, independent lives. We're looking for a compassionate and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our Specialist Support Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team, delivering person-centred, evidence-based interventions that enhance communication, promote independence, and improve the health, wellbeing and quality of life of the individuals we support.
Role Summary
- Manage your own caseload of adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.
- Assess, diagnose and treat communication and swallowing (dysphagia) difficulties.
- Develop person-centred therapy plans, communication profiles and dysphagia management plans.
- Deliver evidence-based interventions tailored to individual needs.
- Train and coach support teams to implement communication strategies and safe dysphagia practices.
- Promote inclusive communication using AAC, Makaton, symbols and other communication methods where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with families, support staff, GPs, social workers and external professionals.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and outcome measures.
- Contribute to service development, audits and continuous quality improvement.
- Support the development of colleagues by providing specialist advice and training.

What we are looking for
Essential
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
- HCPC registration.
- Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
- Experience working with adults with learning disabilities and/or autism.
- Experience assessing and managing communication needs and dysphagia.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable

- Experience using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
- Experience delivering training to colleagues and support teams.
- Experience contributing to service development or clinical audits.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between services.
