Role Overview

The Speech and Language Therapy team at National Star has a key role in ensuring that students gain the skills and confidence to communicate effectively as part of their journey towards living as independently as possible. How satisfying would it be to think that you had played a part in helping a young person with a disability to find their voice.

We’re looking to recruit a new Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to work alongside our experienced Speech and Language Therapists, supporting students to develop their skills so that they can express their opinions, make choices and communicate with family and friends.

Responsibilities

  • Experience in working with people with a broad range of physical and learning disabilities, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, and Acquired Brain Injury.
  • Knowledge of Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC), Makaton and/or Intensive Interaction.
  • Excellent observational and communications skills.
  • Creative and flexible approach to work.
  • Multi-disciplinary working alongside occupational therapy, physiotherapy, education, nursing and residential teams.
  • Support in producing personalised resources to support students’ progression and achievement, including programming AAC devices.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
