Sponsorship & Client Lead
Permanent: £50,000–£60,000 | Freelance: circa £400/day
Predominantly home-based, with travel to London, client meetings and events as required
I’m recruiting a Sponsorship & Client Lead for a small, senior sports marketing consultancy with a strong Formula 1 focus.
This role is for someone who can advise brands on how to make their sponsorships work harder. You’ll understand what a brand is trying to achieve, spot opportunities within its partnerships and develop ideas that help it reach new fans, grow its audience and attract customers. You’ll then take ownership of the work through to delivery.
The consultancy is hiring permanently, but also needs freelance support in the meantime. For the right person, the freelance role could become a permanent move.
The role
You’ll work closely with senior clients, rights-holders, talent, suppliers and production teams. Projects may include sponsorship strategy and activation, brand partnerships, content, ambassador programmes and live activity.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading client relationships and understanding the commercial challenge behind each brief.
- Reviewing sponsorship rights and assets to identify opportunities for brands.
- Developing ideas, recommendations, proposals and presentations.
- Managing projects from initial brief through to final delivery, including budgets, timelines, suppliers and approvals.
- Working with production partners on content and live activity.
- Supporting partnership opportunities and new business where relevant.
About you
You’ll have a strong background in sponsorship, sports marketing, brand partnerships or a closely related area. You understand brands as well as sport, and can explain how a sponsorship can deliver meaningful value for a business.
You’ll also bring:
- Experience advising clients and managing senior relationships.
- The ability to turn a loosely formed brief into a clear strategy and practical plan.
- Strong writing skills, including proposals and presentations.
- Confidence managing budgets, multiple stakeholders and delivery.
- Sound commercial judgement and the ability to think on your feet.

F1 or motorsport experience would be valuable, but it isn’t essential if you understand sponsorship and can get up to speed quickly.
This is a small, hands-on team. You’ll have real autonomy and direct access to senior decision-makers, so you’ll need to be comfortable working independently and moving things forward without being handheld. There’s also a genuine opportunity to grow into a more senior role as the business develops.
If you’re after a big agency setup and Friday drinks at the local pub, this probably isn’t the one for you. If you’d enjoy getting close to the clients and having real ownership of the work, I’d love to hear from you.
