Sports Coach (Junior School)

Location: Maidenhead, SL6

Hours: 35 hours per week, term time only (8:30am - 5:30pm, flexibility required for fixtures)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Start: September 2026

Are you an enthusiastic and passionate Sports Coach looking to inspire the next generation? This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive Junior School environment and play a key role in delivering engaging and high-quality sport for pupils.

About The Role

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Sports Coach (specialising in Netball, Hockey or Athletics) to join the PE department. You will deliver PE lessons, support games sessions, and run extra-curricular sports clubs, while also assisting with home and away fixtures.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will encourage a love of sport and physical activity, helping pupils develop their skills, confidence, teamwork, and enjoyment both on and off the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach a range of sports including netball, hockey, and athletics
  • Deliver PE lessons and support games sessions
  • Assist with extra-curricular sports clubs and team fixtures
  • Support the organisation of inter-school competitions and sporting events
  • Promote the benefits of sport for physical, mental, and social wellbeing
  • Assist with planning and preparing lessons alongside colleagues
  • Support school trips and residential activities where required
  • Complete administrative tasks such as recording results and preparing team sheets
  • Assist with celebrating sporting achievements through school communications and displays
  • Ensure sports equipment is prepared, maintained, and stored correctly
  • Support pupil supervision where required, including school transport duties

Person Specification

  • Passionate about engaging Junior School pupils in sport and physical activity
  • Experience coaching netball, hockey, athletics, or similar sports
  • Qualified coach in a relevant sport or holds a sports-related degree
  • Patient, enthusiastic, and able to inspire confidence in young people
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents
  • Flexible, proactive, and committed to contributing positively to school life
