Sport at Wellington College seeks a skilled Hockey specialist to inspire pupils, strengthen participation and support an ambitious coaching programme.
Sports Coach (Hockey Specialist)
Join Wellington College as a Sports Coach specialising in Hockey and become part of a dynamic, ambitious and values-led community where sport is central to school life. Located in Crowthorne, Berkshire, with train and bus links providing easy access to transport connections, our 400 acre estate is a unique and inspiring place to work.
Working within the Sport Department, you will help deliver an inclusive and high-quality programme for pupils with a wide range of abilities and aspirations. Your principal focus will be Hockey, alongside opportunities to support Athletics, Cricket and other sports where required. Through high-quality coaching and constructive feedback, you will help pupils develop skills, confidence, teamwork and a lasting enjoyment of physical activity.
- This is a fixed-term position for one year, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to Wellington College's ambitious sporting programme and make a lasting impact on pupils' development.
The role includes:
- Preparing and delivering coaching sessions
- Supporting teams at fixtures and competitions
- Contributing to sporting events and activities across Wellington College and Wellington College Prep

You will work closely with Heads of Sport, teaching staff and specialist coaches to provide a consistent, safe and engaging experience. The position requires flexibility to attend Saturday fixtures, evening sessions and other term-time sporting commitments.
We are seeking an experienced Hockey coach who can inspire young people across different ages and levels of participation. You will bring sound knowledge of effective coaching practice, athlete development and safeguarding. Strong communication skills, organisation and the ability to build positive relationships will be equally important. A recognised coaching qualification, experience in additional sports, and expertise in areas such as strength and conditioning or performance analysis would be advantageous.
