Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant - North Manchester

Sports Coaches Needed - Day-to-Day & Short-Term School Roles

Cover People are recruiting Sports Coaches / Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools across North Manchester. These flexible positions are ideal for candidates who enjoy working with young people and would like to combine their sporting experience with classroom-based support.

Job Title: Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant

Location: North Manchester

Start Date: Immediate

Salary: £90-£120 per day

The Opportunity

You'll work across a range of secondary school environments, supporting pupils through PE lessons, sports activities, and general classroom cover. The roles are primarily day-to-day and short-term, giving you flexibility while building valuable school-based experience.

Your Responsibilities Could Include

  • Supporting teachers during PE lessons and practical activities.
  • Delivering sports sessions across KS3 and KS4.
  • Taking responsibility for classes when required as a Cover Supervisor.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, participation, and teamwork.
  • Supporting pupils both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Using a range of sports and activities, including football, rugby, basketball, athletics, and more.
  • Developing positive relationships with pupils and acting as a positive role model.

Who We're Looking For

We're interested in candidates who:

  • Have recent UK experience working with children or young people, ideally aged 11-16.
  • Hold a Sports/PE degree or relevant coaching qualifications.
  • Are confident leading activities and managing groups of pupils.
  • Can maintain a calm and positive approach to behaviour management.
  • Are adaptable and comfortable working in different school settings.
  • Have a genuine enthusiasm for sport and encouraging young people to stay active.
