Location: Greater Manchester
Pay: £115 per day
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
Start: ASAP
Contract: Long-term
Educato Recruitment are looking for a Sports Coach / SEMH Mentor to join an Alternative Provision supporting young people who may have struggled within mainstream education.
The successful candidate will need to be calm, consistent, and resilient, while understanding that building relationships is key to helping pupils engage. This role would suit someone with a background in Sports Coaching, PE, youth work, mentoring, SEMH education and Alternative Provision. You will need to be confident leading activities but equally comfortable sitting down with a young person, having a conversation, and providing support when they are struggling.
The Role
You will spend part of the day leading sports and physical activities, while also working as a mentor and trusted adult for pupils within the provision.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Planning and delivering engaging sports sessions
- Using sport and physical activity to engage pupils
- Encouraging teamwork, communication, and positive behaviour
- Supporting pupils who may be reluctant to engage with education
- Building positive and trusting relationships
- Providing 1:1 and small-group mentoring
- Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour
- Helping pupils develop confidence and self-esteem
- Encouraging resilience and positive decision-making
- Supporting pupils with their engagement in education
- Acting as a positive role model
- Working closely with teaching and pastoral staff
- Helping pupils develop skills that can transfer into education and everyday life

About The Provision
The provision supports young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, who may present with:
- Behavioural difficulties
- Anxiety and emotional regulation difficulties
- Low confidence and self-esteem
- Difficulties with relationships and communication
- Disengagement from mainstream education
- Challenging behaviour
- Difficulties managing boundaries and routines

Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people
- Sports coaching, youth work, mentoring, or SEMH experience desirable
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
- Two suitable references
- Right to work in the UK
- Commitment to safeguarding
