Job Opportunity at talkSPORT

Do you live and breathe football - know a puck from a googly? You might be the person to join the home of sports opinion - talkSPORT.

We need an experienced Sports News Reader to be front and centre of the fully "visualised" radio output. This position is a 12 month fixed-term contract.

Your Role

You will be a leading on-air Sports News Reader, responsible for writing, producing and delivering live dynamic bulletins on talkSPORT, bringing the biggest stories to life for millions of sports fans. Reporting to the Head of News, you will also deliver breaking news on programmes and report on-location when required. Many bulletins are now delivered to camera because the bulk of the output is fully visualised and streamed on YouTube and Smart TVs.

Day to day you will:

  • Produce and present the station's flagship sports bulletins
  • Set the agenda by making key editorial decisions in conjunction with senior managers
  • Report on breaking stories in the studio and on location during live programming

  • Encyclopedic knowledge of sport
  • Significant experience of a fast-paced broadcast newsroom
  • Razor-sharp clarity and creativity of writing
  • Calmness and speed under pressure
  • Excellent team-working skills
  • Brilliant audio and video editing ability
  • An understanding of News UK’s diverse media portfolio

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
