Sports Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship – Frederick Bird Academy
Are you passionate about making a difference with children as they embark on their educational journey? We seek an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join our team as a Sports Teaching Assistant Apprentice in our welcoming primary school.
Key Details
- Salary: £8 increasing to National Minimum Wage after 12 months
- Working hours: Monday – Friday (Shifts TBC) 30 hours per week
- Location: Swan Lane, Coventry, CV2 4QQ
Apprenticeship Details
- Duration: 16 months expected duration to complete
- Training Provider: LMP Education (rated 1st best UK training provider)
- All learning is delivered online/ remote.
As a Sports Teaching Assistant Apprentice, you will work under the instruction/guidance of teaching/senior staff to undertake work/care/support programmes, to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils. Your day-to-day duties include:
- To provide high-quality sports coaching before, during and after school to help promote the importance of physical education, school sports and physical activity.
- At times, you may be required to support the school in other areas if necessary and to gain skills across the curriculum.
- Contribute towards competitive sports provision and day-to-day sport within the PE department.
- Further develop links with local schools to help with competitive sport and physical activity provision.
- Increase physical activity levels before, during and after the school day.
- Assist with the improvement of staff development within the area of Physical Education and School Sport.
- To assist the school in its day-to-day duties.
- To contribute to the overall ethos, work & aims of the school.
- Develop an understanding of policies & procedures, complying with their contents and raising concerns in a timely manner.

Desired Skills & Personal Qualities
- GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English
- A team player
- Reliable, committed, and punctual
- Has good communication skills
- Can work as part of a team
- Has good literacy and numeracy skills
- Is motivated to develop as an individual and complete the training to achieve the apprenticeship qualification
Desired Qualifications
- DBS must be completed if successful in the role
