The site features coverage of football, boxing, cricket, tennis, golf, rugby, UFC, NBA, F1, and additional global sports. Content is created by passionate contributors who focus on insightful reporting and opinion pieces. World in Sport offers opportunities for emerging sports writers to build their portfolio and gain experience in a dynamic online environment.
Role Description
This remote Sports Writer internship role focuses on producing timely and engaging sports content for World in Sport’s online audience. Day-to-day tasks include:
- Researching current sports events
- Writing match reports, news articles, and feature pieces
- Contributing opinion-based analysis on football and other sports
- Collaborating with editors to refine story angles, ensure accuracy, and maintain the publication’s style and standards
- Meeting deadlines
- Optimizing articles for online readership
- Participating in editorial discussions to pitch new ideas

Qualifications
- Strong Sports Writing and general Writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, engaging, and accurate articles.
- Knowledge and passion for Football and broader sports, with familiarity across major leagues, tournaments, and athletes.
- Effective Communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with editors and respond constructively to feedback.
- Foundational Journalism skills, such as research, fact-checking, ethical reporting, and basic understanding of editorial standards.
- Excellent command of written English and attention to detail in grammar, structure, and style.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage time effectively, and meet content deadlines.
- Experience with online publishing tools or basic CMS platforms is beneficial.
- Relevant academic background or coursework in Journalism, Communications, English, or Sports Media is an advantage but not mandatory.
