Role Description
The Sports Writer internship is a remote role focused on producing timely and engaging sports content for World in Sport’s online platform. Day-to-day tasks include researching current sports events, writing match reports, opinion pieces, features, and news articles, primarily with a focus on football and other major sports as needed. The intern will pitch article ideas, follow editorial guidelines, and collaborate with editors to revise and improve content. Responsibilities also include monitoring sports news, verifying facts, and ensuring all work meets quality and style standards. This internship provides practical experience in digital journalism, audience engagement, and content publishing.

Qualifications
- Strong Sports Writing and general Writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, engaging, and insightful articles.
- Knowledge and passion for Football and a broad understanding of other popular sports covered by World in Sport.
- Effective Communication skills, including the ability to present opinions clearly and collaborate with editors.
- Foundational Journalism skills, such as research, fact-checking, and adherence to ethical reporting standards.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, meet deadlines, and manage multiple assignments.
- Good command of written English and familiarity with online publishing or blogging platforms is beneficial.
- Relevant academic background or coursework in journalism, media, communications, or related fields is an advantage but not mandatory.
