Our client Scottish Power is seeking a SQL Database & CMDB Engineer for an initial 12-month contract opportunity, with a great opportunity for long-term career development and progression within the team.
Database & CMDB Subject Matter Expert
Legacy SQL Database Support | ServiceNow CMDB & Telecommunications Inventory
Role Purpose
Provide hands-on technical support for a business-critical legacy SQL database while supporting the design, development, migration, and implementation of its strategic replacement within a ServiceNow platform.
The successful candidate will bridge legacy asset data management processes and the future ServiceNow CMDB and Telecommunications Inventory solution, ensuring continuity of service, data integrity, and successful migration of critical asset and configuration data.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and administration for an existing Microsoft SQL Server-based asset database.
- Maintain database performance, availability, security, and resilience.
- Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and reports.
- Investigate and resolve database, integration, and data-quality issues.
- Support implementation and enhancement of ServiceNow CMDB capabilities.
- Support data migration, reconciliation, and validation activities.
- Contribute to integration design and transition into service.
Essential Skills
- Strong Microsoft SQL Server administration and development experience.
- Advanced SQL / T-SQL programming skills.
- Data modeling and relational database design.
- Data migration, ETL, and data quality management experience.
- Experience implementing, supporting, or administering ServiceNow CMDB.
- Knowledge of CMDB governance, CI relationships, and lifecycle management.
- REST API and enterprise integration experience.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and documentation skills.
