About The Role
The SQL Developer (Graduate / Junior) role based in Glasgow offers an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to kickstart or advance their careers in software development within a fast-growing SaaS environment. This hybrid position involves working 2 to 3 days per week in the Central Glasgow office, with the remainder of the week working remotely. The role is designed for recent graduates or junior developers with a passion for data, problem-solving, and software engineering. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of SQL, including data querying, manipulation, and performance tuning. A background or experience with reporting tools such as Power BI or SSRS is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to deliver code and configurations that align with project requirements, standards, and deadlines. Exposure to unit testing, end-to-end testing, defect management, and deployment processes is desirable. Previous experience working with configurable or low-code platforms will be considered a plus. A good grasp of the software development lifecycle and the ability to translate requirements into effective solutions are essential. Strong analytical skills, eagerness to learn, and a problem-solving mindset are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
As a Junior SQL Developer, your responsibilities will include:
- Configuring and developing solutions based on detailed designs and client requirements.
- Working with large datasets to query, manipulate, and optimize performance for efficiency.
- Supporting build activities alongside senior developers or technical leads.
- Conducting unit testing and end-to-end testing to ensure functionality and quality.
- Investigating and resolving defects identified during testing phases to maintain high standards.
- Supporting release preparation, deployment, and post-deployment activities.
- Participating in peer reviews to uphold coding standards and best practices.
- Gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle, from initial requirements gathering through deployment and support.
