About The Role

Quant Capital is actively seeking a skilled SQL Developer to join their vibrant team based in London. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects within the fintech space, focusing on data and database management that are critical to the company's operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in SQL Server database development and administration, with the ability to handle approximately 70% development tasks and 30% DBA responsibilities. The role involves supporting existing SQL Server environments, performing migrations, optimizing queries, and contributing to the design and implementation of data models. The successful candidate will work closely with the CTO and development teams, playing a key role in the company's data-driven initiatives and infrastructure enhancements.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in SQL Server database development and administration. They should demonstrate expert knowledge of SQL programming, including T-SQL, stored procedures, and advanced query optimization techniques. Experience with SQL Reporting Services, Integration Services, and database performance tuning is essential. Familiarity with SQL Server versions 2014 and 2016, as well as experience in highly transactional environments, is highly desirable. Knowledge of relational data modeling, data warehouse concepts, and decision support databases will be advantageous. Additional skills such as familiarity with ADO.NET, the.NET framework, Power BI reporting, and cloud technologies are considered a plus. Candidates should possess excellent troubleshooting skills, strong communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role include supporting and troubleshooting existing SQL Server environments, performing capacity planning, and managing database backup and recovery processes. The candidate will develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data import/export processes using SQL Server Integration Services. They will provide technical guidance on database design, performance tuning, and data model development to ensure efficient data access and reporting. Monitoring query performance and tuning database environments will be ongoing tasks, along with supporting business intelligence reporting needs. Administering multiple SQL Server instances across Windows and cloud platforms, diagnosing database issues, and implementing error notification alerts are essential duties. The role also involves contributing to overall business improvements through automation, process optimization, and technical innovation. Collaboration with stakeholders and team members to ensure seamless data operations and project delivery is integral to the position.
