About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Architect to take ownership of our core data ecosystem. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and lead the design of data platforms that underpin critical functions such as Member Services, Finance, and Pension Investment Management. As a hands-on architect, you will be responsible for defining how data flows through our organization, modeling data structures, and ensuring that our systems support strategic decision-making processes. Your work will directly impact the management of approximately £40 billion in assets, making this a highly influential position within the company.
The ideal candidate will work across various domains, including investment data, operational reporting, analytics, and regulatory compliance. You will translate complex business requirements into scalable, well-architected data solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and future technology initiatives. Your involvement will extend beyond immediate data concerns, contributing to broader technology and AI strategies, and influencing the company's digital transformation journey.

This role requires a proactive professional who is comfortable engaging with both technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment and clarity across all levels of the organization. You will be instrumental in designing data architectures that not only meet current needs but are adaptable to future growth and innovation.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in data architecture, with a strong understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and analytics.
- Extensive hands-on experience with MS SQL Server and modern data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric or similar cloud-based solutions.
- Solid knowledge of data integration techniques, ETL/ELT processes, and data pipeline management.
- Experience in designing data solutions for investment operations, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to architecture design and implementation.
- Relevant certifications in data management, cloud platforms, or related fields are advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design and development of the company's core data platforms, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance.
- Translate business requirements into effective data models and architecture solutions that support decision-making and operational needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including investment, finance, and technology to align data strategies with organizational goals.
- Design and oversee data integration processes, including ETL/ELT pipelines, to ensure data quality and consistency across systems.
- Contribute to the development of the company's wider technology and AI strategies, advocating for innovative data solutions.
- Maintain awareness of emerging data technologies and industry best practices, recommending improvements as appropriate.
- Ensure data governance, security, and regulatory compliance are embedded within the architecture.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineers and analysts within the organization.
