Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting business intelligence, reporting, and data integration solutions that enable informed business decision-making. This role requires strong technical skills in Microsoft data technologies, a solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and excellent problem solving and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain reporting and business intelligence solutions.
  • Develop, optimise, and support SQL Server databases, stored procedures, views, and queries.
  • Create and maintain ETL solutions using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Develop operational and management reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI.
  • Design and implement data models to support reporting and analytical requirements.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Participate in solution design activities and contribute to system architecture discussions.
  • Perform testing, validation, and quality assurance of developed solutions.
  • Support systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements.
  • Maintain documentation in line with development and support standards.
  • Follow software development best practices and contribute throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Develop and support ASE SQL and Microsoft SQL Server database solutions.
  • Collaborate with business users and technical teams to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience with ASE SQL (Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise) development.
  • Proven ability to design, develop, and maintain stored procedures, triggers, views, functions, and complex SQL queries within ASE SQL environments.
  • Experience in query optimisation, performance tuning, and troubleshooting database-related issues.
  • Ability to analyse business requirements and translate them into efficient database solutions.
  • Experience maintaining data integrity, database standards, and coding best practices.
  • Advanced SQL Server (T-SQL) development experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Experience developing ETL solutions using SSIS.
  • Strong Power BI development skills, including dashboard and report creation.
  • Experience in data modelling and database design.
  • Understanding of solution design and application architecture principles.
  • Good knowledge of Windows operating systems.
  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies, including requirements gathering, development, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Experience performing unit testing, system testing, integration testing, and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications would be advantageous.
