Database Administrator (SQL Server)
London - Hybrid (2/3 days a week in the office)
3 Month Contract
We're looking for an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join a leading UK Financial organisation on a 3 month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a large-scale Microsoft SQL Server environment, ensuring the performance, resilience and security of business-critical database platforms while supporting ongoing transformation and cloud initiatives.
Role
- Managing and administering enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Installing, configuring, patching and upgrading SQL Server instances.
- Monitoring database performance and carrying out performance tuning and optimisation.
- Managing backup, recovery and disaster recovery solutions.
- Ensuring database security, availability and resilience across production environments.
- Supporting development and infrastructure teams with technical expertise and troubleshooting.
- Contributing to solution design, technical architecture and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Working within Agile delivery teams on both BAU and project-based work.

Requirements
- Strong commercial experience as a SQL Server DBA within an enterprise environment.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server administration, maintenance and performance tuning.
- Experience with backup, recovery, high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Strong understanding of Windows Server environments.
- Experience supporting highly available, business-critical database platforms.
- Knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools.
- Ability to work closely with architects, infrastructure and engineering teams.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Desirable
- Experience with Azure SQL or cloud-hosted SQL Server environments.
- PowerShell scripting experience.
- Experience working within Agile, DevOps or DevSecOps environments.
- Previous experience within Financial Services or another regulated industry.
