$82,410 - $93,159 annual compensation

Workdays & Hours
This is a full-time salaried position that includes all benefits provided by the City of Fort Worth. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with operating hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. After successfully completing a six-month probationary period, there will be an option for remote work. Please note that some evening and weekend work may be required.

About the Position
A Sr. Accountant – General Ledger job is available with the City of Fort Worth Financial Management Services Department’s Accounting Division. This is an advanced level position requiring a high level of responsibility.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major course work in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible accounting experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of Certified Public Accountant credentials
- Possess credentials as a Certified Public Finance Officer
- Three (3) or more years of progressively responsible finance/accounting experience, preferably working in a State or Local Government environment
- Strong knowledge of Governmental Accounting (Fund Accounting) concepts
- Have a good understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Have experience working with ERP systems and strong Excel skills

Job Responsibilities
- Perform complex financial analysis and account reconciliations
- Monitor general ledger accounts
- Review/approve/post journal entries, perform month-end and year-end closing activities
- Provide assistance during the City’s independent financial and single audits
- Support internal/external customers and City departments to resolve Accounting issues
- Any other duties that may be assigned
Working Conditions & Physical Demand
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions. Light Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls Page 3 of 4 requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
