Purpose

We are searching for the best talent to join our Orthopedic team as Senior Director, Planning Systems & Processes.

The Senior Director, Planning Systems & Processes is the enterprise business leader accountable for defining and executing the global strategy, operating model, governance, and transformation roadmap for Supply Chain Planning systems, data, and standardized end-to-end processes across DPS. The role owns the business vision and value realization for Advanced Planning Systems (APS), the planning implications of Company Separation, and the transition from a fragmented application and ERP landscape to one integrated APS and one ERP-enabled planning model.

The Senior Director will partner with senior Planning, Supply Chain, Commercial, Finance, Digital, IT, Quality, and regional and site leaders to align investment priorities, simplify processes, establish common data and design standards, and deliver scalable capabilities that improve service, inventory, agility, productivity, and decision quality. This leader will provide executive sponsorship and business governance from strategy and solution selection through deployment, adoption, stabilization, and continuous improvement, while protecting operational continuity and regulatory compliance. The role will build and lead a high-performing global organization of process owners, product owners, program leaders, and system subject matter experts and will establish the foundation for advanced analytics, AI-enabled decision support, and the longer-term aspiration of autonomous planning.

The role will report to the Vice President, Supply Chain Planning, DPS, and will serve as a senior member of the Global Planning Leadership Team and as the principal business partner to SC&O Systems and Digital Enablement and IT for planning transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and own the multi-year global strategy, target architecture, investment roadmap, and value case for Planning Systems & Processes, aligned with the DPS business and Supply Chain strategies.
  • Lead the business selection, design, implementation, and adoption of a single enterprise APS, ensuring demand, supply, inventory, distribution, capacity, scenario-planning, exception-management, and analytics capabilities support the future operating model.
  • Partner with ERP leadership to define planning requirements and sequence the transition to one ERP, ensuring APS and ERP design decisions, master data, interfaces, controls, and deployment waves operate as an integrated end-to-end solution.
  • Provide executive business leadership for Company Separation across all core planning systems and business-developed applications; own readiness criteria, risk escalation, contingency planning, cutover governance, and business sign-off for Day 1 and subsequent transition milestones.
  • Establish global process ownership and governance for demand planning, supply planning, production planning, distribution requirements planning, inventory planning, capacity planning, and associated planning master data.
  • Standardize, simplify, and document end-to-end planning processes across platforms, regions, markets, and sites, resolving local deviations and control gaps that would prevent successful migration to one APS and one ERP.
  • Chair cross-functional design and governance forums that align Planning, Commercial, Finance, Operations, Source, Quality, Digital, IT, and data teams on enterprise requirements, design principles, priorities, decisions, and accountabilities.
  • Own the integrated transformation portfolio, including scope, milestones, dependencies, resources, budget recommendations, benefits, risks, organizational readiness, and executive communications.
  • Define the Planning data and integration strategy, including data ownership, hierarchy standards, planning parameters, data quality controls, interface requirements, and a single source of truth for decision-making.
  • Ensure robust business process design, validation, user acceptance testing, training, cutover, hypercare, and adoption; establish measurable controls that protect service, inventory, and operational continuity during separation and deployment.
  • Translate future-state processes into business requirements and product backlogs; make enterprise trade-off decisions and prevent unnecessary customization that undermines scalability, controls, or the target architecture.
  • Drive digital enablement, advanced analytics, automation, and responsible AI use cases that reduce manual work, improve scenario planning, enable exception-based management, and advance the journey toward autonomous planning.
  • Establish a sustainable post-separation product and support model, including decision rights, service levels, release management, enhancement prioritization, vendor governance, cybersecurity, access controls, and regulatory compliance.
  • Build, lead, and develop a global team of process owners, product owners, program leaders, and system experts; define capability requirements, succession plans, and strategic workforce and partner models.
  • Manage strategic relationships with technology vendors and implementation partners, holding them accountable for solution quality, delivery, knowledge transfer, and business outcomes.
  • Benchmark external leading practices and represent Global Planning in enterprise transformation forums, translating relevant innovations into practical roadmaps and approved investments.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
