Job Description Summary

As the Senior Steam Turbine Design Engineering Manager, you will lead the design team responsible for steam turbine upgrades and retrofit integrations across fossil, industrial, and nuclear projects. You will oversee the complete project lifecycle, from initial concept layout to final execution.

Your team manages the design of steam turbine rotors, casings, and associated components across our full product portfolio, including both impulse and reaction technologies. This scope encompasses everything from in kind replacements and retrofit upgrade conceptualization to comprehensive design delivery during project execution.

As the Product Owner for steam turbine rotors and casings, you will ensure that all upgrade solutions are rigorous, consistent, and aligned with industry best practices. You will define and maintain design rules and technology roadmaps, collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure performance and steam path designs are incorporated and mechanical integrity assured. Furthermore, as a leader, you will champion GE Vernova’s LEAN principles to drive engineering productivity and excellence.


Job Description

How You Will Make a Difference

  • Team Leadership: Lead the Steam Turbine Design Engineering team, providing technical oversight for rotor and casing design.
  • Product Ownership: Serve as the design lead and product owner for fossil, industrial, and nuclear steam turbine retrofits.
  • Tender Support: Provide expert conceptual designs to support active tenders for fossil and nuclear retrofits.
  • Project Execution: Deliver contract projects in strict accordance with design principles, contract specifications, and budgetary requirements.
  • NPI Development: Support New Product Introductions (NPI) for nuclear upgrade designs, such as high-pressure (HP) mixing chamber development.
  • Strategic Roadmap: Define technology and tools roadmaps aimed at enhancing customer value and engineering productivity.
  • Customer Representation: Represent GE Vernova’s technical expertise and technology to customers and external stakeholders.
  • Talent Development: Mentor and develop team members to ensure the retention of core technical expertise and technology ownership.
  • Innovation & Simplification: Drive innovation while simplifying processes to support the development of standardized and modular products.
  • Standards Governance: Ensure design rules, practices, and standards meet ITR SPS business requirements. Proactively initiate and manage the evolution of design standards to support future market development and competitive positioning.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive continuous productivity improvements within the steam turbine engineering function.
  • Knowledge Management: Promote the capture and sharing of best practices, ensuring consistent application across the team.
  • Process Implementation: Deploy global standards and common processes to ensure high-quality delivery via a lean organization.
  • Performance Metrics: Utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to proactively identify and implement process improvements.
  • Compliance: Ensure full compliance with the Code of Conduct and safeguard the intellectual property (IP) of our products and services.
