The City of Fort Worth is one of the fastest growing large cities in the U.S. Our employees serve the needs of over 1,000,000 residents, promoting our values of exceptional customer experience, mutual respect, embracing our diversity, continuous improvement, ethical behavior, and accountability. 🌆

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Programmer Analyst in the Strategic Operations division of the Water Department and reports directly to the Assistant Water Director. The LIMS section is responsible for the following:

  • Supports the environmental laboratory (Central Laboratory) by working hands-on with laboratory staff to ensure the laboratory data is accurate, compliant, and efficient.
  • Provides in-person support for the laboratory’s LIMS system by troubleshooting and resolving system-related issues that arise in the lab.
  • Plays a crucial role in developing and deploying system upgrades, adding new procedures, and modules to support evolving business needs.

This is an in-person position that works closely with the water/wastewater laboratory team to ensure that all LIMS processes comply with regulatory requirements from agencies such as NELAP, TCEQ, and the EPA, including strict adherence to change control and validation protocols. The position is responsible for day-to-day LIMS operations, maintenance, system administration, and providing user training.

This position is ideal for someone with a biology, chemistry, environmental science, or medical laboratory background with a solid understanding in laboratory data workflows. Advanced software engineering experience is not required; we value laboratory knowledge and the ability to learn technical skills.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
