About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer to join our client's technology team in Bromley, London. This role is pivotal in supporting and enhancing the Futures & Options and Collateral business operations within the Global Markets division. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting a range of critical applications and microservices that facilitate the efficient management of collateral and trading activities. Working in a hybrid environment that requires three days in the office per week, the role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects in a fast-paced financial services setting. The contract duration is 12 months, with the possibility of extension for an additional year, providing stability and growth potential.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Java development, with extensive experience in enterprise-level applications. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Proven expertise in Java/J2EE frameworks, microservices architecture, and database programming is essential. Candidates should have hands-on experience with tools such as GIT, Jenkins, Bitbucket, and Ansible for version control and CI/CD processes. Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift is highly desirable. Additionally, excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a global, multidisciplinary team are crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, and supporting microservices and web-based applications using Enterprise/Core Java, JMS, Spring Framework, JDBC, and Java ORM technologies.
- Translating business requirements into technical specifications, creating robust and scalable solutions, and ensuring high-quality code through rigorous testing and code reviews.
- Collaborating closely with business product owners and end-users to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements.
- Serving as a Level 3 support contact for production incidents, providing timely resolutions and ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Working across multiple locations, including London, Singapore, and India, demonstrating adaptability and effective communication skills to coordinate with international teams.
- Participating in Agile development processes, including sprint planning and retrospectives.
- Writing technical design documents and supporting CI/CD pipeline automation.
