About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer to join our client's dynamic technology team in Bromley and London. This full-time, hybrid role offers an exciting opportunity to work on critical applications within the Futures & Options and Collateral business sectors for Global Markets. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, enhancing, and maintaining microservices and web-based applications that support essential financial operations. This position requires a proactive professional with a strong background in Java development, microservices architecture, and Agile methodologies. The role involves collaboration with international teams based in Singapore, India, New York, and Chicago, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to global projects and gain valuable cross-cultural experience.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a solid educational background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields. Proven experience of at least 5 years in Java development within a financial services environment is essential. Demonstrated expertise in enterprise Java technologies, microservices architecture, and database programming is required. Familiarity with modern DevOps tools and practices, such as GIT, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes, is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and experience working within Agile teams across multiple locations are critical to success in this role. A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and innovation will be highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, and supporting a range of microservices and portlets using Enterprise/Core Java, JMS, Spring Framework, JDBC, and Java ORM technologies.
  • Working closely with technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements, develop technical designs, and implement solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Participating in the full software development lifecycle, including testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
  • Serving as a Level 3 support resource for production issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Collaborating with international teams, requiring effective communication and coordination across time zones.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, adopting best practices in CI/CD, and exploring innovative solutions to enhance system performance and reliability.
