PURPOSE

The Sr. Manager-Decking uses their knowledge of our top-quality decking materials to teach our customers about these products. This motivated team member makes sales, obtains orders, and contracts, and demonstrates a commitment to excellent customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Making sales or obtaining orders and contracts for assigned and new accounts in current and emerging markets.
  • Coordinate sales of these assigned accounts by monitoring product and delivery needs.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in the market to sell with maximum profit and ensure complete product penetration with current and future customers.
  • Manage plan design changes or enhancements.
  • Provide service and education to customers – both internal and external – about a specific field.
  • Partner with vendors to improve communication and education to customers about products.
  • Prepare and review sales management reports as required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of building codes and job site OSHA safety requirements.
  • Provide customer solutions for material procurement, distribution, and application.
  • Establish a plan to meet with market customers routinely to increase the scope of new business potential.
  • Facilitate customer relations between all BFS departments and customers.
  • Attend necessary conferences and training sessions to maintain a current and thorough understanding of local building codes, product applications, and other related areas.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. Prefer a college degree in a business, marketing, construction management, or related field.
  • 5 years of sales experience in building materials or related industries
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record

COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent verbal and written skills, ability to organize and manage within time constraints.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, materials, industry, and products.
  • Ability to negotiate prices and contractual agreements.
  • Ability to carry yourself in a professional manner.
  • Ability to estimate from blueprints, using a calculator and computer.
