Job Details

Position: Senior Manager, Scientific & Academic Affairs - Hill’s EMEA Region - Permanent Contract (No relocation).
Expected Gross Annual Salary Range: 78,500 - 95,000 Pound Sterling per year, determined on the basis of objective, transparent, and gender-neutral criteria.
Variable Compensation: Eligibility to participate in bonus and incentive programs linked to company and/or individual performance.

Position Summary:

The Sr. Manager, Scientific & Academic Affairs - HIll’s EMEA Region is a leader within the Professional and Veterinary Affairs (PVA) function responsible for helping to develop and deploy strategies to demonstrate Hill’s Scientific Leadership. The role focuses on Hill’s engagement with Key Thought Leaders (KTLs) and with veterinary colleges across the region. The individual also serves as a subject matter expert, advising the business, including close work with the EMEA regulatory team, and reviewing and helping to develop technical assets to ensure they are accurate and have a high level of scientific rigor. As part of a matrix organization, this role works crossfunctionally and across the PVA team to integrate these strategies into broader executional plans in support of business objectives in the region. Successful execution of these strategies will develop veterinary professionals (including Key Thought Leaders, students and academicians) as passionate advocates for Hill’s brands and will earn recommendation, use and trust.

The Sr. Manager, Scientific & Academic Affairs sets the Hill’s EMEA school strategy for tiering, coverage and engagement with veterinary colleges, leading execution of the Hill’s Student Representatives and staff feeding programs in schools, establishing key performance indicators, and working closely with the Sr. Manager, Veterinary Affairs to drive effective coverage and execution at veterinary colleges by the Professional Consulting Veterinary (PCV) team and Associate PVA Managers. This individual will work with specialty colleges and key organizations in Europe to develop educational programs and support information sharing to build KTL endorsement. Additionally, this individual will represent Hill’s as a speaker at both national and international congresses across the EMEA Region, providing scientific knowledge on nutritional management of disease and on Hill’s product portfolio.

The position reports into the Vice President and Chief Veterinarian, Hill’s EMEA.

Responsibilities include the following but not limited to:

  • Implement Hill’s EMEA school strategy for tiering, coverage and engagement with veterinary colleges
  • Execute the Hill’s Student Representative and staff feeding programs in schools
  • Grow endorsement by Key Thought Leaders through targeted programs with specialists and residents across EMEA and develop more effective ways to share key information
  • Support the development and localization of technical and educational assets (e.g., Clinical Evidence Reports, Point of View materials, seminars) with the latest scientific and clinical nutrition information
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the EMEA marketing, regulatory and legal teams during the claims substantiation and approval processes
  • Represent Hill’s in the FEDIAF Nutrition Working Group, providing valuable input into nutrition discussion and monitoring for changes that could impact our portfolio
  • Support Hill’s position as global leader in science-based clinical nutrition through engagement with relevant European organisations and specialty colleges
  • Represent Hill’s as a speaker at both national and international congresses
  • Help with clinical study coordination
  • Collaborate with Hill’s global teams to represent needs in the region, discuss new initiatives and provide feedback on future innovations

Skills and Competencies:

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in veterinary medicine
  • Board certification in veterinary clinical nutrition (preferred), or in small animal internal medicine with a strong interest in clinical nutrition
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in small animal veterinary practice or academia, inclusive of time spent in residency training
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including high level of comfort and skill in public speaking
  • Fluency in English (written and oral)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ experience in animal health industry (corporate) roles, ideally including experience in customer-facing role(s)
  • Experience using AI-powered tools
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment in Europe, FEDIAF and PARNUTs
  • Strong network with KTLs and veterinary organizations in Europe
