Sr. Planning Manager

The Opportunity

The Sr. Planning Manager has a key role in the development of the plan, financial forecast and reporting requirements. Responsibilities include legal entity view plan development (MRAC, MAHC entities, and subsidiaries), capital and dividend planning, quarterly financial forecasting, and associated variance analysis. This position will offer an opportunity to gain valuable insight and knowledge from experienced team members, providing an opportunity for increasing responsibility and exposure as the role develops.

Responsibilities:

  • As a development opportunity, this role will be supported (i.e. trained) by experienced staff. A gradual increasing knowledge base is expected, followed by increasing responsibilities. Over time, full responsibility for the legal view Plan and Forecast is anticipated.
  • Prepare the legal entity plan and forecast requirements for income statement and balance sheets. Including:
    • Annual Plan development, US and Munich reporting requirements for the multi-year plan. 20 entities in total
    • Quarterly financial forecast
  • Validate and analyze plan and forecast submissions, identify errors and inconsistencies, and resolve issues with the respective financial and/or business contacts
  • Multiple accounting basis: IFRS and U.S. STAT
  • Become familiar with the required data management across multiple systems, including GT, ECON, FSRI, GPS and TM1
  • Perform variance analysis and provide insight of key drivers related to legal entity financial plan and forecast results. Communicate findings and recommendations to Sr Management.
  • Prepare management reports and analysis, including quarterly and annual reporting to meet local US and Munich Re requirements. These reports include quarterly management reporting, the quarterly forecast book, capital and dividend planning, capital modelling, and ad-hoc data analyses and requests.
  • Partner with other team members to develop a basic understanding of the Management View plan and quarterly results requirements. Understand the similarities and differences of management view vs legal view.
  • Partner and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and senior management, within FMR, the business units, and Munich.
  • Ad hoc projects to include onboarding of new entities through acquisitions, projects from senior management, etc.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will possess the following skills/capabilities:

  • Previous experience working with reinsurance or insurance entities required
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Mathematics; CPA or MBA designations preferred but not required
  • 10+ years accounting or finance experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with financial planning and business planning, as well as quarterly forecasting of financial results
  • Familiarity with U.S. Statutory and IFRS accounting principles; Working knowledge of ECON, Global Template, TM1 (preferred)
  • Excellent financial analysis skills; High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, Word, & PowerPoint) required
  • Proven ability to understand and prioritize requirements, and deliver on time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the experience, confidence and credibility to work and collaborate with others
  • Strong team orientation, collaborating with co-workers to develop and implement solutions

The Company is open to considering candidates in Princeton, NJ. The salary range posted below applies to the Company’s Princeton location. The base salary range anticipated for this position is $170,000 - $270,000 plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).

The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in Princeton, NJ. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
