Job title: Senior Cloud Platform Engineer (AWS)

Location: London (1 day onsite)

Contract: 6 months renewable

Overview:

A leading global financial services organisation is seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join its growing cloud and data platform team. Operating at significant scale across multiple international markets, the business delivers complex technology solutions that support millions of users and process high volumes of transactions every day. This is an opportunity to work on large-scale cloud infrastructure challenges while helping shape the future of business data and application platforms.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable AWS cloud infrastructure solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Build, maintain, and optimise CI/CD pipelines to support infrastructure and application deployments.
  • Manage and enhance core AWS platform services including (Glue, Lambda, S3, EKS).
  • Drive cloud standardisation, automation, and platform engineering best practices.
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Analytics teams to provide secure, reliable, and scalable cloud foundations.
  • Implement and maintain AWS security controls, IAM policies, and least-privilege access models.
  • Lead troubleshooting, incident management, and root cause analysis activities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and engineering standards.
  • Leverage AI-enabled engineering tools to improve productivity, infrastructure delivery, and documentation quality.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and mentor colleagues on cloud engineering best practices.

Experience required:

  • 6+ years of hands-on cloud infrastructure engineering experience (AWS and/or Azure).
  • Strong expertise designing and operating AWS environments at enterprise scale.
  • Cloud networking architecture.
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native infrastructure and platform design principles.
  • Strong Terraform experience across multiple environments.
  • Proven ability to build reusable modules and automate cloud deployments.
  • Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD or similar tooling.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps and DevSecOps practices.
  • AWS IAM design and access management expertise.
  • Understanding of cloud security frameworks and governance principles.
  • Experience implementing security controls within regulated environments.
  • Comfortable working directly with engineering, data, security, and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business-focused outcomes.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
