About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Lead Software Engineer to join our Equities Sales and Trading Technology team at JPMorgan Chase & Co., located at 25 Bank Street, Canary Wharf, London. In this pivotal role, you will be an integral member of an agile development team dedicated to building and enhancing innovative technology products that support our global trading operations. Your expertise will influence the design, development, and deployment of secure, scalable, and high-performance systems that underpin our market-leading trading platforms. You will provide technical guidance to your peers and stakeholders, ensuring best practices are followed throughout the software development lifecycle. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex, high-stakes projects within a dynamic financial environment, leveraging your technical prowess to deliver impactful solutions that drive business success.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess formal training or certification in software engineering concepts coupled with at least five years of practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability. Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages is essential, along with a deep understanding of software applications and technical processes across various disciplines such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Practical experience with cloud-native architectures, especially in AWS, is highly desirable. Candidates should have a background in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, or related technical fields. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently on complex design and functionality challenges, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality, secure code are critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and strategic direction to support business objectives and technical teams, including contractors and vendors.
- Develop, review, and debug secure, high-quality production code, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.
- Influence product design decisions, application functionality, and technical operations to optimize performance and security.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in specific technical domains, contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering practices.
- Promote and advocate for firmwide frameworks, tools, and methodologies related to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Evaluate and recommend the adoption of emerging technologies to enhance product capabilities and operational efficiency.
- Foster a team culture rooted in diversity, inclusion, opportunity, and respect, encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Participate actively in code reviews, technical discussions, and mentoring to uphold high engineering standards.
- Contribute to the development of scalable, high-performance trading applications that handle high-frequency data updates and complex UI requirements.
