Our partner is looking for a Sr. Shopify Engineer based in United Kingdom.
Join a remote engineering team delivering innovative digital commerce experiences for global brands and emerging ventures. In this senior role, you’ll take ownership of building sophisticated Shopify solutions, from custom themes to purpose-built applications. You’ll translate polished UI/UX designs into high-quality, pixel-perfect storefront experiences while ensuring strong performance, scalability, and accessibility. The role combines hands-on engineering with technical ownership across integrations, architecture, and platform optimization. You’ll collaborate closely with designers, strategists, and fellow engineers to deliver complete solutions from concept through launch. This is an opportunity to work on challenging projects across diverse industries while staying at the forefront of Shopify’s rapidly evolving ecosystem.
Accountabilities
- Lead the development of custom Shopify themes from the ground up, translating UI/UX designs into responsive, pixel-perfect storefront experiences.
- Architect, develop, and maintain custom Shopify applications tailored to specific client and business requirements.
- Optimize Shopify storefronts for speed, performance, SEO, responsiveness, and scalability while following modern engineering best practices.
- Design and implement integrations between Shopify environments and third-party APIs, services, and platforms.
- Contribute to scalable technical architecture and make informed engineering decisions across Shopify projects.
- Work collaboratively with designers, strategists, product stakeholders, and other engineers to deliver end-to-end digital commerce solutions.
- Participate in modern development workflows, including version control, code reviews, CI/CD, testing, and deployment practices.
- Stay current with Shopify APIs, development tools, platform capabilities, and ecosystem updates, applying relevant innovations to projects.

Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in front-end or full-stack development, with significant hands-on experience building Shopify solutions.
- Strong expertise in Shopify Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and modern front-end development practices.
- Proven experience creating custom Shopify themes from scratch rather than primarily modifying existing templates.
- Deep experience developing private and public Shopify apps using Node.js, React, or comparable technologies.
- Strong understanding of REST and GraphQL APIs, including experience integrating third-party services into Shopify environments.
- Solid knowledge of storefront performance optimization, responsive design, SEO best practices, and scalable Shopify architecture.
- Experience with Git-based development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges and independently drive projects toward high-quality outcomes.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Curiosity and willingness to continuously learn as the Shopify ecosystem, APIs, and development standards evolve.
