Location: Trawsfynydd, North Wales (On-site)

Duration: Up to 2 Years

Rate: Competitive Daily Rate (Inside IR35)

Randstad is recruiting a Site Manager on behalf of a leading tier:one contractor to manage civil engineering operations on a major electrical substation scheme in North Wales. This is an immediate, long:term assignment running for up to two years, taking operational responsibility for site safety, subcontractor delivery, and daily civils execution.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take day:to:day operational control of the site, directing civil engineering teams and specialist subcontractors on live substation infrastructure. Your day:to:day will involve:

  • Site Operations Leadership: Directing daily site activities, workforce management, and subcontractor delivery to keep the short:term lookahead schedule on track.
  • Civil Engineering Delivery: Overseeing groundworks, heavy foundations, reinforced concrete (RC) structures, cable ducts, and site access infrastructure.
  • HSEQ and National Grid Standards: Enforcing strict health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, leading daily briefings and ensuring strict adherence to RAMS and client regulations.
  • Subcontractor Management: Coordinating specialist supply chain partners, managing site logistics, and maintaining daily production quality.
  • Site Records and Reporting: Maintaining accurate daily site diaries, tracking scope changes, and acting as the primary face of the main contractor on site.

Essential Requirements

  • National Grid Competencies (Essential): Must hold valid, active National Grid site competencies (e.g., NG Person / BAF / TP137 or equivalent site clearance).
  • Civil Engineering Background: Strong, proven track record as a Site Manager delivering heavy civil engineering packages on electrical substations or major energy schemes.
  • Site Credentials: Valid CSCS card, SMSTS, and First Aid at Work.
  • Location and Mobility: Based in or commutable to North Wales (Trawsfynydd / Blaenau Ffestiniog) with a full UK driving licence.
