SR163 Site Manager x2

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a SR163 Site Manager x2 on a 6 month rolling contract, located London.

Role Summary

  • Manage day-to-day site operations for 400kV substation works, ensuring delivery against programme, quality, and safety targets
  • Act as the primary client-facing point of contact on site, representing the project professionally to National Grid and other stakeholders
  • Oversee full self-delivery teams and resources, ensuring works are executed in line with National Grid standards and specifications
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental requirements throughout the project lifecycle
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel as required
  • Monitor and report on progress, risks, and issues to senior management and client stakeholders
  • Ensure all site activities comply with National Grid's technical, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Support and enforce site inductions, permits to work, and safe systems of work
  • Escalate and resolve site-level issues promptly to avoid delays or non-conformance

Requirements

  • Valid and current SR163 status (full, not provisional) — mandatory
  • CP (Competent persons)
  • Proven National Grid experience, specifically delivering 400kV substation projects
  • Demonstrable experience of full self-delivery on substation projects (not sub-contracted/managed delivery)
  • Prior experience acting as a client-facing representative, liaising directly with National Grid and other key stakeholders
  • Right to work in the UK (evidence required prior to start)
  • Willingness and ability to operate Outside IR35 via a Limited Company

Person Specification

  • Extensive experience as a Site Manager on HV/EHV substation projects, specifically 400kV
  • Strong working knowledge of National Grid processes, standards, and governance
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence operating in a client-facing capacity
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multi-disciplinary site teams
  • Sound understanding of CDM regulations and site safety management
  • Full SR163 accreditation (current, not lapsed or provisional)
