Sr./Business Development Manager – UK Marketplace

About the Opportunity
We are supporting a leading global e-commerce and lifestyle platform in hiring an experienced Business Development Manager to support the continued growth of its UK marketplace.
The business operates internationally across more than 150 countries and is continuing to expand its marketplace offering by bringing established brands and retailers onto the platform.
This role will focus on identifying, engaging and recruiting key UK brands and retailers, while developing long-term commercial partnerships and supporting their growth on the marketplace. The position reports directly to the Market Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute an ambitious business development and brand acquisition strategy for the UK market, aligned with overall marketplace growth objectives.
- Identify and recruit high-potential brands, retailers and marketplace partners that can bring relevant and competitive product assortments to the platform.
- Monitor UK market trends and competitor activity, providing recommendations on positioning, services, commercial strategy and pricing.
- Build strong relationships with senior commercial stakeholders and represent the business at relevant industry and networking events.
- Manage the transition from business development to account management, establishing clear 90–180 day growth plans, commercial targets and performance milestones.
- Monitor account performance and conduct regular business reviews, supporting partners across assortment, inventory, content, operational compliance and growth.
- Work cross-functionally with internal teams to resolve operational issues and ensure successful partner onboarding and development.
- Manage pricing alignment and promotional execution, encouraging participation in major platform campaigns and reviewing campaign performance.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of Business Development experience, ideally within a leading e-commerce, marketplace, retail, technology or services business.
- Strong understanding of the UK marketplace and retail landscape, with an established network of brands and/or retailers highly desirable.
- Proven experience in seller/brand acquisition, commercial negotiation and partnership development.
- Strong analytical, negotiation and project management capabilities.
- Comfortable managing multiple international and senior stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Commercially minded, proactive and confident developing relationships from initial outreach through to long-term account growth.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
