Lumacron Technology, a CACI. Company, delivers world-class solutions to the optical communications marketplace. Expanding our modern European Headquarters in Edinburgh Park, we are seeking a Quality Assurance Test Engineer to help support the expansion of our product portfolio.
Position Overview
Reporting to the R&D Project Manager, the candidate will be responsible for designing, verifying and implementing test suites across Lumacron’s flagship network monitoring products. The role includes proactively leading QA and software testing across functional, non-functional, system, performance, regression and security elements. They will design, develop and maintain automated test suites, and identify opportunities to automate existing manual test processes. They will work closely with software, firmware and hardware teams to investigate, report and resolve issues and ensure quality throughout the product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities
- Collaboration with developers to develop effective strategies and test plans
- Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes and experience of CI/CD automated test tools/methodologies (e.g. Jenkins)
- Detect, track, and verify software defects and inconsistencies
- Execute test cases (manual and automated) and analyze results
- Strong analytical and problem-solving, communication and collaborative skills
- The ability to work to tight timescales, individually and collaboratively

Basic Qualifications
- Qualified to degree level in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent discipline or relevant industry experience
- 5-10 years of relevant work experience
- Ability to comply with the UK GOV National Security Vetting Procedures (see link below) https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/united-kingdom-security-vetting
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with REST APIs / OPEN API
- Technical knowledge in at least one of the following: Python, C, C++, C#, Java
- Experience in cross-platform test development for Windows and Linux
- Experience of testing Open Source Linux-based embedded products
- Experience of testing front end and back end web technologies: eg Selenium / Playwright
- Experience testing software / embedded software for FPGA-based hardware systems
- Specific experience of Telecommunication/Data Communication hardware products
- Knowledge of Telecoms Framing and Packet structures (OTN, SONET/SDH, PDH, Ethernet)
