Job Title: SSRS Developer (Contractor)
Location: Birchwood / Manchester (Hybrid)
Department: Data Engineering
Contract Type: 6 months Outside IR35 Contract
Rate: £300–£350 per day (Outside IR35)
Role Purpose
Maintain and enhance existing SSRS reports on SQL Server while supporting the migration of SSRS reporting to Amazon Redshift.
Key Responsibilities
- Amend, maintain and enhance existing SSRS reports on SQL Server
- Troubleshoot report defects, data discrepancies, and performance issues
- Manage report deployment, scheduling and subscriptions in SSRS
- Support migration of SSRS reports/data sources from SQL Server to Redshift (query conversion, testing, validation)
- Validate migrated reports against existing outputs for accuracy
- Document specifications, changes and migration decisions
- Liaise with Data Engineering on underlying data model/infrastructure dependencies

Essential Skills
- Hands-on SSRS development and maintenance
- Strong T-SQL (queries, stored procedures, views, optimisation)
- Requirements gathering directly with business stakeholders
- Report design principles (parameters, subreports, data-driven subscriptions)
- SQL Server administration/reporting infrastructure exposure

Desirable Skills
- Redshift migration experience or general Redshift exposure
- T-SQL vs Redshift SQL (PostgreSQL) differences and migration pitfalls
- Regulated industry experience, data protection/InfoSec awareness
