About the Role

As Paint Shop Technical Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our paint operations continue to deliver the exceptional finish, craftsmanship and quality that define every Aston Martin vehicle.
Reporting within Manufacturing, you will provide technical leadership and strategic direction for all paint shop processes, equipment and technologies. You will be responsible for driving safety, quality, cost, delivery and environmental performance while ensuring the paint shop remains at the forefront of operational excellence and innovation.
Working collaboratively across Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and Product Development, you will lead the optimisation of paint and related processes, developing and maintaining robust operational standards that support consistent performance and premium product quality. You will champion a culture of continuous improvement, utilising structured problem-solving methodologies to identify root causes, implement effective corrective actions and deliver sustainable improvements.
The role will oversee adherence to coating specifications, including colour harmony standards, whilst ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality systems. You will take ownership of key operational KPIs, driving performance through data-led decision making and continuous improvement initiatives. You will also play a key role in supporting new vehicle and product launches, with responsibility for new colour development and the successful introduction of innovative paint technologies.

As the technical authority for the paint shop, you will support capital investment projects, commissioning activities and the ongoing development of facilities and equipment. In addition, you will lead the development and compliance of control plans, ensuring robust process governance and operational discipline across the function. A significant part of the role will focus on developing team capability, providing leadership, coaching and technical guidance to build a high-performing and future-ready organisation.
To be successful, you will bring significant experience within automotive paint operations and a proven track record of leading technical teams in a manufacturing environment. You will possess strong automotive OEM paint shop experience, with a deep understanding of paint processes, coating technologies and operational excellence. Experience of robotics, process optimisation, structured problem solving and the delivery of commissioning or facility improvement projects is essential. You will be a confident leader with the ability to influence stakeholders, drive change and deliver results within a fast-paced, quality-driven environment.
