We're looking for a Staff AI Engineer (AI Specialist) to help shape how AI is engineered across one of the UK's largest technology organisations.

π₯ What you'll be doing
- Define and develop reusable AI engineering patterns, accelerators and reference architectures
- Build production-ready solutions across RAG, LLM integration, agentic AI and prompt engineering
- Lead technical discovery and assess the feasibility and value of new AI opportunities
- Work closely with engineering teams to solve complex AI problems and accelerate delivery
- Help establish AI engineering standards, best practices and responsible AI guardrails
- Evaluate emerging AI models, frameworks and technologies and determine where they can create real business value
- Influence the AI and data platform roadmap across the organisation
- Coach and enable other engineers, helping to raise the overall AI engineering capability
- Work across multiple technology domains rather than being tied to a single product or team

Iβm in my final year doing Economics and I donβt know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer β it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donβt need a masters. Letβs look at the ones youβd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet β that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
