As a Staff Data Engineer at BP PLC, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining scalable and robust data pipelines and systems. You will play a key role in enabling data-driven decisions across the organization by ensuring high-quality, accessible, and reliable data infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize complex data models, databases, and data warehousing solutions, including relational data modeling.
- Implement and manage continuous deployment and release pipelines for data solutions, adhering to Agility core practices.
- Develop and maintain robust data ingestion, transformation, and processing scripts.
- Ensure the security and integrity of data systems, adhering to Information Security best practices.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and software engineers, to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
- Contribute to system design and architecture discussions, focusing on scalability, performance, and resilience.
- Manage configuration and source control for data infrastructure and code, utilizing appropriate tools and processes.
- Facilitate technical discussions and mentor junior team members, fostering a high-performing team environment.
- Drive improvements in service operations and resilience for data platforms.
- Apply digital project management principles to deliver data initiatives efficiently.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.

Job Qualifications
- Proven experience in Database Design and Relational Data Modelling.
- Strong proficiency in Scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL).
- Demonstrated experience with Continuous deployment and release processes.
- Expertise in Source control and code management (e.g., Git).
- Solid understanding of System Design principles for scalable data solutions.
- Experience with Configuration management and related tools.
- Knowledge of Information Security best practices in a data context.
- Ability to apply Agility core practices in data engineering workflows.
- Excellent Collaboration and Communication skills.
- Experience in Creating a high performing team and Facilitation.
- Familiarity with Digital Project Management methodologies.
- Understanding of Service operations and resilience for data platforms.
