Lumacron Technology, an CACI. Company, delivers world-class solutions to the optical communications marketplace. Expanding our modern European Headquarters in Edinburgh Park, we’re seeking talented Software Engineers to help support the expansion of our product portfolio.
Position Overview
Reporting to the R&D Project Manager, candidates will play a pivotal role in the architecture, design and verification of software within Lumacron’s flagship network monitoring products. The role is full-stack and multi-disciplinary and includes development of low-level embedded device drivers, application programming interface (API) software and graphical user interface (GUI) software, collaborating with peer design teams in hardware and firmware. Candidates will provide technical leadership, mentoring and support to less experienced colleagues.

Role Requirements
- Qualified to degree level in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent discipline or experience
- 10+ years of experience in development of Linux-based embedded software systems, including the full software design life cycle
- Expert in a least one object-oriented language (e.g. C++, Java) and OO design principles
- Experience of architecting complex software ensuring scalability and maintainability.
- Experience of front end and back end web technologies: Javascript, Typescript, Node JS etc.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD
- Strong analytical and problem-solving, communication and collaborative skills, with the ability to work to tight timescales, individually and collaboratively.
- Ability to comply with the UK GOV National Security Vetting Procedures (see link below) https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/united-kingdom-security-vetting

Additional Beneficial Skills
- Familiarity with REST APIs / OPEN API
- Experience architecting software / embedded software for FPGA-based hardware systems
- Specific experience of Telecommunication/Data Communication hardware products
- Knowledge of Telecoms Framing and Packet structures (OTN, SONET/SDH, PDH, Ethernet)
- Knowledge/experience of VHDL or Verilog

This position is based out of Lumacron's Edinburgh campus.
