Staff Software Engineer - High throughput systems - 10k TPS
This is a senior technical leadership opportunity with a profitable AI company valued at approximately $10bn, employing 500+ people and continuing to scale rapidly.
About the Role
As a Staff Engineer, you’ll operate across teams, helping define the technical direction of some of the company’s most important systems. You’ll tackle architectural challenges, influence engineering strategy and mentor senior engineers while remaining hands-on where it matters. The role is suited to someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of architecture, engineering leadership and complex distributed systems.

Responsibilities
- Operate across teams, helping define the technical direction of some of the company’s most important systems.
- Tackle architectural challenges.
- Influence engineering strategy.
- Mentor senior engineers while remaining hands-on where it matters.
- Operate at the intersection of architecture, engineering leadership and complex distributed systems.
Required Skills
- Extensive experience building large-scale backend systems.
- Strong background in distributed systems, architecture and system design.
- Experience with high-throughput, low-latency production environments.
- Strong programming ability, ideally with Golang (Java or Python considered)
- Proven ability to influence technical decisions across multiple teams.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and driving engineering standards.

Pay range and compensation package
- Salary: Up to £180,000
- 15% bonus
- Equity
- Location: London, 2 days per month, with flexibility to attend more frequently if preferred.
