Staff Engineer – Distributed Systems / High Scale - Remote-first - Up to £180,000 + 15% bonus + VSOPS
We’re partnered with a highly profitable company operating at the forefront of AI, with around 400 employees and a valuation of close to $10bn.
Founded over 5 years ago, the business has scaled rapidly while maintaining a strong engineering culture. They’re remote-first and are now looking to add a Staff Engineer to their growing technical organisation.
They’ve also recently been named one of the top 25 companies on the pre-IPO watchlist.
The opportunity
This is a senior technical role for an engineer who wants to work on genuinely complex problems at significant scale.

The engineering organisation focuses heavily on high-throughput systems, distributed architecture, scalability and reliability. Golang is the preferred language, although experience with Java or Python will also be considered.
As a Staff Engineer, you’ll operate across teams, influence technical direction and help solve some of the organisation’s most challenging engineering problems. You’ll have significant input into architecture, design and engineering standards while remaining close to the technology.
What we’re looking for

- Strong experience building distributed systems at scale
- 12+ years commercial software engineering background, Golang preferred, although experience with Java or Python will be considered
- Experience working with high-throughput, highly available systems
- Strong architectural and technical design skills
- Ability to influence engineering direction across teams
- Comfortable operating autonomously in a remote-first environment
- Someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems and working at significant scale
