An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 staff nurse to join our friendly and energetic team on Kennaway ward
About Kennaway Ward
Kennaway ward is an 11-bed inpatient adult ward caring for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, and symptom control as part of their cancer journey. We also have a 3-bedded surgical day unit which runs 5 days a week offering day case surgery.
The successful candidate will require excellent interpersonal and clinical skills and enjoy working as part of a team. You will be required to act as a role model for junior members of the team, ensuring care is delivered to a high standard in line with the values of the trust, and supporting them in their own professional development. Whilst also assuming managerial responsibilities for coordination of shifts, and supporting the Ward Sister with the management of staff, auditing, incident reporting, and be actively involved in recruitment and developing skills as a leader within the Trust.

Responsibilities
- To coordinate and supervise a shift, communicating effectively with members of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality, evidence-led care to patients.
- To exercise clinical judgment and decision making about patient needs in terms of long term goals or plans.
- To participate fully in the day to day organization and running of clinical trials including the recruitment, education, and monitoring of patients entering a clinical trial and liaison as required with trial sponsors.
- To Assume Personal Accountability For Nursing Care Delivered To a Patient In Accordance With The NMC Code Of Conduct. There Is An Expectation For Post Holders:
- To promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, visitors and staff.
- To participate in Trust initiatives around infection control and care quality indicators.
- To assist with any local or trust initiatives to ensure the continuous improvement of the quality of services and safeguarding of high standards of care.
- To be aware of all hospital policies and procedures and collaborate with other health care professionals to ensure that these are observed.
- To help foster a supportive working environment and maintain staff morale.
