The post holder will work as part of a team of registered nurses, nursing associates, health care support workers, and student nurses in delivering safe and effective care to patients within the Cancer Inpatient wards. This role involves working in collaboration with the medical and wider MDT teams, ensuring a high-quality service to patients.

The post holder will provide care to patients within the cancer inpatient wards, guided and supported by senior colleagues. As skills and competencies develop, there may be occasions when the post holder would take charge of the unit.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical: Patient care
    • Acting as a role model and leading by example in all aspects of clinical care.
  • Education and Development
    • Undertake appropriate education and training relevant to the role to support personal and professional development and growth.
  • Management and Leadership
    • Take charge of the unit on occasion as necessary.
    • Participate in audit and QI projects as required.
  • Clinical Governance
    • Effective risk management, reporting clinical incidents via DATIX incidents and promoting a culture of safe practice with openness and transparency.
